All authors are omnipotent above their created worlds. So it can be that, through the magic of new editions, I can change what was and direct what will be. Ah, what such sweet, divine power it is to rewrite history and reimagine the future!
But with great power comes a little bit of responsibility. I cannot and will not change everything. So many things should simply not be touched.
So, as I have already done for My Wings Be Forgotten and True Angel, I have tried to approach this revised edition with the lightest of editorial touches, keeping clear in my mind where I want things to head without damaging the overall plot. On the whole, this has involved signposting a couple of themes (subtly, of course!) that I previously had not picked up on, trimming away things that already turned out to be dead ends, and at the same time simplifying the narrative into a more linear presentation.
The latter modification has led to a change of pace, but I think it still works, and it does give a bit more room for depth and development. In fact, several characters are to become regulars, but I had not realised that at the time of original publishing, so their starting points needed to be firmer.
Anyway, this one is done. Three down, four to go!
